Dick Profit

Richard 'Dick' Profit - or Prophet travels with his wife Venus in both the Book of Negroes and the Birchtown Muster. With them is twelve year old james Knapp, who shares the same last name as Venus's former owner. It is assumed that James is the grandson of this couple- although it is just possible that he is the son of Venus by 'Mr Knapp'. There is also a possibility that the other Prophet family of Daniel 'the' Prophet and his wife Elizabeth are in some way related to Richard and his wife. Strangely Richard (or Dick) is not among the slaves for either Richard Brown Snr or Jnr nor is there a Dick/Richard among slaves belonging to other Brown's.
