Violet Snowball

Violet Snowball is the wife of Nathaniel Snowball. In the Book of Negroes she travels with her children Nathaniel Jr and Mary, with them is also China Sparrow (later China Snowball). Other children at the time of the Birchtown are also present Jane, Jenny and Godfrey. Violet and her mother (also a Violet) were owned by Edward Thruston and inherited by his daughter Elizabeth who married Cornelius Calvert. Calvert's tithables show that neither Violet was included in the property transferred to him. She and her younger children must have been sold/given to Richard Murray of Princess Ann County, who lists Violet in his 1775 tithable list for Princess Anne County which is the only list we have.
