Sealia Bowden

Sealia appears with her two small children, Sally, 3 and Dempse, 2 months in the Book of Negroes. She is in the tithable listings for Solomon Deans for Portsmouth in 1770 and 1771 and is listed for the last time in 1778. SiIler is also listed in his will dated September 1777. There is a slight discrepancy between this last entry and the date she said she ran in the Book of Negroes. We assume she run to General Matthews when he burnt Portsmouth in 1779. In the Birchtown Muster Sealia [Celia Bolton] is married to Samuel Bolton who is not in the Book of Negroes.
